Armed band invades Syrian monastery

Armed band invades Syrian monasteryRSSFacebookFebruary 27, 2012

A band of armed men forced their way into a Catholic monastery in Syria last week, searching the building and destroying communications devices before eventually leaving.
The armed men—who were wearing masks and could not be identified—entered the Mar Musa monastery, north of Damascus, on February 22. The group forced all residents to remain in the chapel for an hour while they searched the premises, supposedly looking for weapons and/or money.
Residents at Mar Musa monastery did not know who the armed men were, who they represented, and why they expected to find weapons in a monastery.
